Abstract
Melanospora pascuensis sp. nov., isolated from soil of Easter Island, is de scribed and illustrated. The ITS1, ITS2 and 5.8 S rRNA gene sequences are a lso provided. The fungus can be recognized by the setose perithecial ascoma ta and the peculiar ring-like structure surrounding the ascospore germ pore s. If is compared with other species of Melanospora and related genera.
