Abstract
Yeast cells exclude the DNA-replication-initiation factor Mcm4 from the nuc leus during the S and G2 phases of the cell cycle, when active replication 'origins' must not reassemble. This exclusion is dependent on cyclin-depend ent kinases and provides a general mechanism for preventing re-replication of DNA in a single cell cycle.
