Abstract
In this paper the statistical mechanical problem of two topologically linke d polymers is related to a topological Ginzburg-Landau model coupled to two Chern-Simons field theories. The Chern-Simons fields play the role of prop agators of the topological interactions. The effects of the topological con straints is investigated using the method of effective potential in one-loo p approximation. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
