Magnetization and neutron diffraction studies have been made on a 7% Ni-sub
stituted analogue of the hexagonal ferromagnetic compound Fe2P. Substitutio
n of Ni for Fe strengthens the ferromagnetic order and raises the Curie tem
perature to approximate to 295 K from approximate to 210 K in Fe2P. But the
values of the magnetic moments on the two metallic sites do not change muc
h. The moments continue to orient along the c-axis as in the parent compoun
d.
