Abstract
The Holter-Monitoring is an important device far diagnosing electrophysiolo gical abnormalities of the heart in dogs. It is utilized in cardiology to i nvestigate syncopes, espescially if the ECG was normal, for the follow up o f antiarrythmic therapies and pacemakers and for risk assessment in cases w ith organic heart disease. The procedure was used in the clinic for small a nimals of the Tierarztlichen Hochschule Hannover for scientific studies on the ventricular torsion in dogs. There is sometime a discrepancy between co mputer assisted and visual evaluation of the HoIter-ECG, but all in all the Halter-monitoring was, up to now, sucessful.
