Abstract
Let G be the free product of groups A and B, where \A\ greater than or equa l to 3 and \B\ greater than or equal to 2. We construct faithful, irreducib le *-representations for the group algebras C[G] and l(1)(G). The construct ion gives a faithful, irreducible representation for F[G] when the field F does not have characteristic 2.
