Abstract
A new acrylamide monomer containing a sulfo group and a sulfolane moiety wa s prepared by reaction of (meth)acrylonitrile with 3-methyl-3-sulfolene and a sulfonating agent (oleum or 98-100% sulfuric acid) under mild conditions . The synthesis conditions were optimized to ensure a high yield of the tar get product.
