Over the past few years, a number of new anti-epileptic drugs have been int
roduced including: gabapentin, lamotrigine, vigabatrin, topiramate, felbama
te and tiagabine. Several clinical studies showed efficacy of these anti-ep
ileptic drugs on various types of seizures. However, the pharmacologic and
clinical properties of these drugs remain to be fully defined. In this revi
ew, the pharmacokinetics, indications, and side-effects of the new anti-epi
leptic drugs are summarized.
