The effect of a laser shock wave on the photoconductivity spectra and the t
hermally stimulated conductivity spectra and also on the temperature depend
ence of the photocurrent and dark current of ZnSe single crystals with diff
erent residual impurity levels is investigated. It is shown that a temperat
ure dependence of the dark currents after passage of a shock wave is observ
ed at higher shock-wave pressures for the less defective crystals, while ac
tivation of the photocurrent and dark current is due to the release of resi
dual impurities from clusters during passage of the shock wave. (C) 1999 Am
