Scientific fields typically evolve faster them their descriptions in introd
uctory texts. To determine which concepts and principles of contemporary re
search in operant conditioning are most appropriate for inclusion in introd
uctory psychology courses and texts, we surveyed the board of editors of th
e Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior (JEAB). Editors evaluate
d 3 independent lists of concepts derived from introductory Psychology text
s and from JEAB. Collectively, the editors' rankings provided a useful mean
s of updating coverage of operant principles in introductory Psychology cou
rses and texts.
