Abstract
Velocity bias errors occur when turbulent flows are measured by laser Doppl er anemometry (LDA). Measurements have been done for the backward facing st ep how by LDA and particle image velocimetry in order to evaluate the veloc ity bias correction method that should be applied for the separated flow da ta measured by LDA. Results indicated that the separated flow can be measur ed by LDA with reasonable accuracy by applying one of the bias correction m ethods, called the "transit time weighting method".
