Transcranial doppler in Alzheimer's disease patients treated with donepezil

The object of this study is transcranial doppler (TCD) evaluation of middle cerebral artery(MCA) hemodynamic parameters in Alzheimer's (AD) patients t reated with donepezil, a transverse study in responders(R) and non responde rs(NR).19 consecutive patients fulfilling criteria for an adequate DTC exam ination and the DSM IV and NINCDS-ADRDA for AD were studied, There was a di fference in pulsatility index (PI) of 0,24 (p=0,001). The multivariate line al regression model demonstrate a significant difference in Vm adjusted PI. This is independent from age, mini mental state (MMSE)punctuation before t reatment and vascular risks factors. There was difference between donepezil R and NR in MCA hemodynamic parameters in this transverse study.
