Abstract
Single Volume Proton Spectroscopy of deep white matter areas of the centrum semiovale was applied to study the pathologic neurochmistry in Vascular De mentia (VD). Significant (p<0.05) decrease in N-Acetyl-Aspartate and increa se in Chorine-compounds was assessed most probably reflecting axonal damage and ongoing degration of myelin shears. These findings are likely to diffe rentiate VD from other dementias.
