Abstract
Positron emission tomography (PET) with the glucose analogue 2[F-18]fluoro- 2-deoxy-D-glucose (FDG) has been used to evaluate a variety of cancers. We evaluated the use of FDG-PET in patients with suspected recurrent carcinoma of the endometrium and compared the results of FDG-PET with those of conve ntional imaging studies. Our results suggest that FDG-PET is a sensitive method for detecting vagina l apex recurrences greater than 1 cm in diameter and metastatic lesions fro m carcinoma of the endometrium.
