Abstract
Atypical polypoid adenomyoma (APA) most frequently presents as an endometri al polyp in premenopausal women and is believed to follow a benign course. In hysterectomy specimens from postmenopausal Japanease women, the endometr ium contained an APA with an area of endometrial adenocarcinoma. Aconvincin g transition zone between the APA and the adenocarcinoma was seen in our ca ses, suggesting that APA may develop into endometrial adenocarcinoma in pos tmenopausal women.
