Adjuvant CAP in endometrial cancer. Adjuvant chemotherapy with cisplatin, adriamycin, and cyclophosphamide following in patients with high-risk endometrial cancer

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of using postoperati ve adjuvant CAP on patients with high-risk endometrial (EM) cancer. Eighty- three patients with certain risk factors who underwent adjuvant chemotherap y following a staging laparotomy were enrolled in the study. Sixty-eight pa tients who had undergone whole pelvis irradiation (RT) were retrospectively examined as historical controls. The 5-year survival rate for CAP patients was 83%, which did not significantly differ from the 81% rate seen in the RT. Patients with lymph, node metastasis or poorly differentiated tumors ha d very poor prognosis, regardless of the therapeutic methods applied. CAP r egimen was considered to be proper postoperative adjuvant therapy in patien ts with stage Ic to IIIa disease, grade 1 and 2 tumors, and we should consi der aggressive adjuvant chemotherapy using new drugs, such as paclitaxel, f ollowing surgery in patients with lymph node metastasis and/or grade 3 tumo rs.
