A. Soderini et al., Value of the serum levels of CA 125 in the epithelial ovarian cancer, 7TH BIENNIAL MEETING OF THE INTERNATIONAL GYNECOLOGIC CANCER SOCIETY, 1999, pp. 291-294
In the present study there were analyzed 306 cases of epithelial ovarian ca
ncer staged according FIGO. In 176 pacients over the 306, the tumor marker
was dosed previously to the surgery. The normal serum level of CA 125 was e
stablished in 35 mUI/ml. It was analyzed the value of the serum levels meas
urement of CA125 at the time of diagnosis, in the preoperative time related
to the overall survival, to the possibility of doing a complete and optima
l citorreductive surgery, to the second look findings, and during the follo
w up. It was also studied the role of laparoscopy in cases of increase of t
he serum levels during the follow-up without any other clinical or CT scan
manifestation of disease, and its implications to second line therapies.
