A. Milewicz et al., Metabolic and hormonal changes after DHEA treatment, 9TH INTERNATIONAL MENOPAUSE SOCIETY WORLD CONGRESS ON THE MENOPAUSE, 1999, pp. 215-219
In last years in many studies it has been shown that exogenous DHEA has a p
ositive influence on carbohydrates and lipids metabolism in animals and (in
some studies) in people. The metabolic and hormonal changes seem to be sim
ilar as during HRT. The aim of the study was to estimate the metabolic and
hormonal changes after 3 months treatment of 50 mg DHEA orally daily in pos
tmenopausal women. 10 volunteers were studied and 10 another volunteers for
med the control group. We have measured the anthropometrical parameters, fa
t content, and the level of glucose, insulin, T-chol, TG, HDL-chol, LDL-cho
l, IGF1, DHEAS and E2 in serum before and after 3 months of treatment. We h
ave found statistically significant difference between the levels of DHEAS
and E2 before and after treatment. We have found no statistically significa
nt differences in the parameters of carbohydrates and lipids or anthropomet
rical parameters in women.
