P. Milart et al., Urodynamic parameters do not correlate with ultrasound bladder measurements in postmenopausal women with urinary stress incontinence, 9TH INTERNATIONAL MENOPAUSE SOCIETY WORLD CONGRESS ON THE MENOPAUSE, 1999, pp. 303-307
The usefulness of endosonography in the differential diagnosis of urinary i
ncontinence remains a matter of controversy. We have attempted to correlate
in 32 postmenopausal women with stress incontinence, selected urodynamic p
arameters with the thickness of the urinary bladder wall and the residual u
rine volume measured by means of vaginal ultrasound probe. Our study failed
to reveal any significant relationship between the studied ultrasound vari
ables and urodynamic parameters such as detrussor pressure, first sensation
volume, strong sensation volume, static and dynamic maximal urethral closi
ng pressure. The diagnostic value of sonographic bladder evaluation in post
menopaual women suffering from stress incontinence? remains to be proven.
