D. Panidis et al., The influence of tibolone upon serum leptin levels in postmenopausal women, 9TH INTERNATIONAL MENOPAUSE SOCIETY WORLD CONGRESS ON THE MENOPAUSE, 1999, pp. 337-341
This study was designed in order to estimate serum leptin levels in postmen
opausal women, as well as the possible correlation between serum leptin con
centrations and the age, the duration of postmenopausal period and the body
mass index (BMI) of these women. Furthermore, the objective of the study w
as to assess the influence of tibolone on serum leptin concentrations in po
stmenopausal women. Our results indicate that BMI values strongly regulate
serum leptin concentrations. Moreover, long-term tibolone administration do
es not seem to have any effect on leptin secretion.
