Applications of acousto-optic correlator in spread spectrum communication

As a new type of correlator, the acousto-optic (AO) correlator is finding a pplication in spread spectrum systems to improve the system processing gain . In this paper, an innovative architectural AO correlation system - hybrid angularly multiplexed AO correlation system is presented. The method to ge t much higher correlation processing gain and to detect the signal from noi se effectively is discussed. The system has been realized experimentally. T he applications of AO correlators in spread spectrum systems are mentioned. The probability of intercept of the system can reach 100%.
