Gq. Liu et al., Theoretical analysis on guided-wave magnetooptic mode conversion and diffraction under tilted bias magnetic field, ACT PHY C E, 8, 1999, pp. S201-S205
Magnetostatic waves-based guided-wave magneto-optics is concerned with magn
eto-optic (MO) interactions between guided-optical waves and magnetostatic
waves (MSW), and the resulting devices in a magnetic material substrate suc
h as YIG-GGG. Specifically, non-collinear MO Bragg interactions between the
guided-optical waves and the MSWs in the YIG-GGG waveguides under perpendi
cular bias magnetic field have resulted in guided wave MO Bragg cell modula
tors in analogy with guided-wave acousto-optic counterpart. In this work a
coupled-mode treatment on the magneto-optic mode-conversion and Bragg diffr
action under tilted bias magnetic field is presented. it is shown that in g
eneral the mode-conversion efficiency and the Bragg -diffraction efficiency
are not identical except when the tilt angle approaches zero.
