Hl. Zhu et al., Crystal structure and photoacoustic spectrum of hexa-methyl-tetraaza-cyclotetradecane-copper(II)-dithiocyanate, ACT PHY C E, 8, 1999, pp. S250-S254
Studies of a copper(II) thiocyanate complex are described. The absorption p
roperties of the title complex in the solid powder state have been measured
by means of photoacoustic spectroscopy, which reflects a rhombic octahedra
l geometry around the copper atom, and indicates the CuN6 chromophore. This
result is also confirmed by the X-ray single crystal structure determinati
on of the compound, which reveals that the central Cu atom is six-coordinat
ed by donor N atoms, four of which come from the macrocyclic ligand and the
other two from two thiocyanic anions, forming an elongated octahedral geome
try structure. This is the first example of copper(II) thiocyanate complexe
s with meso-5, 5, 7,14, 14-hexamethyl-1, 4, 8, 11-tetraaza-cyclo-tetradecan
