Abstract
Studies utilizing knockout mice have contributed important new knowledge ab out the mechanisms that initiate liver regeneration. New mouse lines need t o be established to address major questions about these mechanisms, targeti ng genes for which there is experimental evidence of their involvement in i mportant pathways. Development of conditional, liver-specific knockout mice would be of great value for these studies.
