Abstract
Off-label use of approved drugs is quite commonplace for the anaesthetist - often quite deliberately, but sometimes also unawares. Some of these drugs , which are frequently used for indications, applications and ages other th an approved, are gathered in tabular form, Overstepping the limits of appro val however, is only permissible in the course of treatment trials or a cli nical trial (Klinischer Versuch). The special terms which are crucial in th is context are explained, the distinctions in meaning are clarified. Furthe rmore, some remarks on the anaesthetist's responsibility and liability are made. Finally, analgetic therapy in children is discussed as an illustratio n.
