Friedrich HABERLANDT (1826-1878), Carl FRUWIRTH (1862-1930) und Peter RUCKE
NBAUER (1939-) are renowned members of Vienna plant breeding and plant prod
uction with great merits. Their path through life and personality are compa
ratively described and their scientific achievements and the reward obtaine
d for it are considered in the way of sowing and harvest. In spite of great
dissimilarity in descent and character all three scientists have in common
an admirable and exemplary energy.
