Morinins L-P, five new phenylpropanol derivatives from Morina chinensis

Five new phenylpropanol derivatives, called morinins GP (1-5), along with t wo known compounds, 3, 4-dimethoxycinnamylalcohol methyl ether (6) and p-me thoxycinnamaldehyde (7), have been isolated from the roots of the medicinal Chinese plant, Morina chinensis. The structures of all the new compounds w ere determined on the basis of spectral evidence, especially by 2D-NR IR an d HREIMS. Alkaline hydrolytic degradation confirmed the structure of compou nd 5.
