Abstract
This paper describes the iron saturation of ferritin in haemochromatosis pa tients during phlebotomy therapy. The iron saturation of ferritin does not change during therapy and cannot be used as a parameter to follow therapy. Furthermore, the iron saturation seems to be a constant characteristic of a given person. It does not vary with the body iron stores in patients with haemochromatosis.
