ures. A thorough knowledge of elbow anatomy and the biomechanics of throwin
g are essential to correctly diagnosing and caring for these injuries. Earl
y diagnosis, implementing sports-specific rehabilitation programs, and impr
oving the athlete's faulty performance mechanics often can spare an athlete
from a career-ending injury. When conservative measures fail and surgical
management must be approached, the unique needs of the throwing athlete mus
t be considered.
