Abstract
The elbow of the throwing athlete is exposed to tremendous stress that can result in a multitude of injuries to musculoskeletal and Ligamentous struct ures. A thorough knowledge of elbow anatomy and the biomechanics of throwin g are essential to correctly diagnosing and caring for these injuries. Earl y diagnosis, implementing sports-specific rehabilitation programs, and impr oving the athlete's faulty performance mechanics often can spare an athlete from a career-ending injury. When conservative measures fail and surgical management must be approached, the unique needs of the throwing athlete mus t be considered.
