Abstract
In this work, we present a generalized numerical model to study the dispers ion curves of elastic waves in anisotropic thin layer/substrate systems. Di spersion curves as a function of wave frequency for different propagation a ngles are calculated. The nature of the mode (Rayleigh or Love) is identifi ed by analyzing the polarization of the three-dimensional displacement fiel d. This numerical model has been applied to the system Au(001)/Ni(001). (C) 1999 Published by Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
