The development of the Questionnaire of Recalled Parental Rearing Behaviour
(QRPRB) and its evaluation in a large scale community sample (N = 2968) is
reported. The QRPRB is conceptually based on the Swedish EMBU instrument,
which is one of the most widely used tests in various psychopathological co
nditions. The QRPRB allows the assessment of memories of perceived parental
rearing behaviour separately for the father and mother. It comprises facto
r-analytically derived dimensions of (a) rejection and punishment, (b) emot
ional warmth, and (c) control and overprotection. In the present study we f
ound significant associations between recalled parental rearing behaviour o
n the one hand and life-satisfaction and interpersonal problems on the othe
r.
