Abstract
Worldwide, gallstones are the most common cause of acute pancreatitis, a di sorder that ranges in severity from mild to life-threatening. How gallstone s cause pancreatitis is hotly debated, as is the need for endoscopic decomp ression of the bile duct in sick patients. This article is a critical analy sis of the existing data.
