In methanol, the complexation reaction of palladium(II) with pentadentate N 4S ligand having flexible pyrazolyl arms, appears to proceed through two pa rallel paths, one of which is thermodynamically controlled, generating prod uct 1, while the other is kinetically driven to obtain product 2 in compara ble yields. Structural anomeric effect plays a crucial role in the formatio n of 2.
