Abstract
The valence shell ionization energies of a series of alkenyl- and alkynylfl uorocyclotriphosphazenes have been determined using ultraviolet photoelectr on spectroscopy. In the alkenylphosphazene series, the effect of substituen t variation on both the olefin and the cyclophosphazene ring have been exam ined. The data have been consistently interpreted in terms of a model in wh ich phosphazene substituent effects are exclusively transmitted through pol arization of the endo- and exocyclic sigma bonds.
