Abstract
A thermodynamic database, Zircobase, was developed for zirconium alloys for use in the nuclear industry. Two examples of the assessments concerning th e Sn-Zr and H-Zr systems are given. The complete set for the binary systems , compiled or assessed during the course of this study, is to be found on t he web site: www.inpg.fr/ltpcm/base/zircobase. The utility of this database is demonstrated in examples of thermodynamic calculations of the alpha/bet a phase transformation temperatures performed on industrial Zr-Nb and Zy4 t ype alloys. These last results show fairly good predictions, using extrapol ations of the actual thermodynamic database to ternary or higher order syst ems. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
