A thermodynamic database, Zircobase, was developed for zirconium alloys for
use in the nuclear industry. Two examples of the assessments concerning th
e Sn-Zr and H-Zr systems are given. The complete set for the binary systems
, compiled or assessed during the course of this study, is to be found on t
he web site: www.inpg.fr/ltpcm/base/zircobase. The utility of this database
is demonstrated in examples of thermodynamic calculations of the alpha/bet
a phase transformation temperatures performed on industrial Zr-Nb and Zy4 t
ype alloys. These last results show fairly good predictions, using extrapol
ations of the actual thermodynamic database to ternary or higher order syst
