Raman and IR studies of a single orthorhombic crystal and of polycrystallin
e trigonal RbIn(MoO4)(2) were performed at ambient temperature. The observe
d vibrational modes were assigned to the respective motions of atoms in the
unit cells, It was shown that the first-order D-3d(3) -> D-2h(16) phase tr
ansition leads to very significant changes in the vibrational properties of
the crystal studied. Copyright (C) 1999 John Whey & Sons, Ltd.
