Abstract
Two partially deuterated liquid crystalline monomers 1, 2 and side-chain po lymers 3, 4 therefrom were synthesized. The principal order parameter and b iaxiality of the monomers were determined from their H-1 and H-2 NMR spectr a. The H-2 orientational order of the polymers was also evaluated, which sh owed the coexistence of different phases over certain ranges of temperature .
