Firms that plan to do business in Russia must be prepared to master the hum
an resources management challenges that exist. A study of 18 western firms
found success lay in use of western "high performance" practices adapted to
fit the Russian environment. The practices studied covered all aspects of
human resources management, from recruitment to competency development to m
otivation.
