Abstract
The title compound, (Bn2SnTe)(3) Bn = CH2CsH5, was prepared in high yield b y treating Bn2SnCl2 with (NH4)(2)Te. Details of the synthesis and character ization (H-1, C-13, Sn-119, and Te-125 NMR; IR, single-crystal XRD, and ele mental analyses) are presented. (Bn2SnTe)(3) serves as an efficient single- source precursor to phase-pure cubic SnTe under mild conditions.
