T. Phillips et J. Walker, STATE DIFFERENCES IN BURGLARY VICTIMIZATION IN AUSTRALIA - A RESEARCHNOTE, Australian and New Zealand journal of sociology, 33(1), 1997, pp. 91-100
Australian social researchers have demonstrated an ongoing interest in
investigating economic, political and cultural difference between the
states. The paper reports findings from an exploratory analysis of st
ate differences in burglary victimisation in Australia. Using data fro
m the 1993 National Crime and Safety Survey (NCSS), we investigate the
extent to which some indicators of guardianship and social integratio
n account for variation in burglary victimisation, both within and acr
oss the five Australian mainland states. More generally, we comment up
on the utility of the NCSS data for research on victimisation.
