Abstract
Electronic structure calculations on La0.5Ca0.5SMnO3 are reported. Cal culations were performed with the Full Potential LAPW method within th e Local Density Approximation (LDA) as well as the Generalised Gradien t Approximation (GGA). The ferromagnetic phase of La0.5Ca0.5MnO3 is ha lf-metallic, which is important in the relation to the colossal magnet o-resistance properties of this compound. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Lt d.
