Abstract
The unambiguous identification of a biological specimen can deliver invalua ble evidence to solve criminal cases. In this case the origin of a heart ha d to be clarified. Using the polymerase chain reaction technique and specie s-specific primer pairs for two genes it was clearly shown that this tissue was not from a human but from a pig.
