SPECTROCHIMICA ACTA PART A-MOLECULAR AND BIOMOLECULAR SPECTROSCOPY
Single crystal electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) of Mn(II) doped Zn(C5H
5NO)(6)(BF4)(2) is studied at 300 K. The spin Hamiltonian parameters at 300
K are A(parallel to) = -84.1, A(perpendicular to) = -87.6, D = 267, E = -3
9.3, n = 4.7 (all in units of 10(-4) cm(-1)), g(parallel to) = 2.0005 and g
(perpendicular to) = 2.0096. Based on the angular variation of the fine-str
ucture lines and the observation of only a single magnetic site, the parama
gnetic dopant is assigned a substitutional site. The distortion axis corres
ponds to one of the metal-ligand directions. The covalency of Mn-O bond is
estimated to be 8.9%. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
