Abstract
The thin polybithiophene films electrochemically deposited on electrodes fr om boron fluoride-ethyl ether (BFEE) solution are studied by cyclic voltamm ogram, in situ UV-Vis spectra and surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) technique. It is found that the thiophene rings along the polymer chains li e flat but twisted on electrode surface, with interaction of pi-electrons w ith electrodes. These films, with bipolarons as the main charge carriers wh en doped, exhibit a good electrochemical stability during the oxido-reducti on cycles. (C) 1999 Published by Elsevier Science S.A.
