Abstract
The general asymptotic solution of macrocrack interaction with an arbitrary field of microcracks is modified to the case where microcracks are located around a main crack. A comparison with the solution for a semi-infinite cr ack is discussed. The shielding-amplification zones are identified in terms of the distance from the microcrack to the main crack of finite size.
