Abstract
In this paper, a newly developed micromechanical model has been implemented to predict the concrete response under shear and compressive loading Model predictions for shear loading support the hypothesis that, at the microlev el, cracks propagate under tensile mode. The model captures most of the phe nomena associated with compressive loading qualitatively. However, the comp ressive strain at ultimate load is underestimated. Three-dimensional analys is is needed to capture the compressive loading quantitatively.
