Abstract
This study showed that short-term vitamin administration effectively reduce d post-methionine load homocysteine levels and thereby ameliorated endothel ium-dependent flow-mediated vasodilation in 16 healthy adults. Post-methion ine load homocysteine levels decreased from 22.7 +/- 3.8 to 17.0 +/- 2.1 mu mol/L (p <0.001), and flow-mediated vasodilation after methionine load inc reased from 8.6 +/- 3.6% to 13.8 +/- 2.9% (p <0.001) after vitamin administ ration.
