beta-Glucosidase from Thai Rosewood (Dalbergia cochinchinensis Pierre) cata
lyzes the synthesis disaccharides and trisaccharides at 40-70% (w/w) glucos
e. Gentiobiose (beta 1-6-diglucose) was the major disaccharide. The reactio
n was optimal at pH 5.0 and 60-65 degrees C. When the reaction was performe
d in mixtures of glucose and fucose, a novel product was found, which was p
urified and characterized by NMR spectroscopy to be d-fucosyl (beta 1-6)-d-
glucose.
