E. Schutz et al., Bimetallic catalysts as dissipative structures: stationary concentration patterns in the O-2+H-2 reaction on a composite Rh(110)/Pt surface, CATAL LETT, 63(1-2), 1999, pp. 13-19
The O-2 + H-2 reaction has been studied under low pressure conditions (10(-
5) mbar) employing a microstructured Rh(110)/Pt surface as catalyst. Photoe
mission electron microscopy (PEEM) and scanning photoelectron microscopy (S
PEM) were used as spatially resolving in situ methods. Under reaction condi
tions stationary concentration patterns (Turing-like structures) of the ads
orbates develop inside the Pt domains which are associated with a compositi
onal change of the metallic substrate.
