A model and scenario of delayed recombination of charge carriers in polymer
with conjugated bonds are suggested, which allow experimental data on the
persistent kinetics of photoinduced conductivity of polyphenylene vinylene
films irradiated in air to be described. The model suggests that recombinat
ion of charges in the presence of oxygen solved in a polymer sample gives r
ise to metastable intermediate states - complexes involving oxygen lifetime
of which before recombination is 1/k(1) = 107 s and before dissociation to
free charges, 1/k(-1) = 16 s (at room temperature).
